General perception of those working in civil service
On top of money, what's really important to me is how others see me and my job. I was wondering how people generally perceive those who work in the civil service (ministries/stat boards). Is it a job that makes your relatives at Chinese New Year internally go "Wow, I wish I had his job!"? 😂
I think the older generation generally views govt jobs as pretty respectable (from chats with taxi uncles), but not so much the younger population. How true do you think that is?

To me I find civil service attractive due to its stability and decently good pay. But I do agree that I notice peers around me prefer to work for private.
