is there any other banking job function a banker can switch to? though the commission is good, somehow im starting to think that forever doing sales not much of a personal advancement..

Yup, he/she is right. 6K plus is possible, not 8K. I would say 8K is only possible for, perhaps, exceptional case? Don't count on it. (:

When you work in a bank, the sky is the limit. It's where all the money is. MDs legitimately make millions in bonuses. It's possible in the back office too.

what is bonus like for people in BO ?

1-2 months =p sometimes zero months when financial crisis hits, with no increment

Wrong.
I've seen many cases of >8K in <4 years in IB BO.

How true is that for all banks? What's the pay increment and bonus difference between local and foreign (i.e US banks)? Is it true that us banks generally earn more, even in BO?
