How old are you? What are your acadmic qualifications? Any corporate experience?
If the 1k allowance is for transport & sundry expenses in your sales work, after CPF and car cost you only left with ~1.5k take home pay. Unless the commission is good, this sound worse than even poly freshie.

It really depends on the commission and bonus is how much. If just look at the basic of 2k is not attractive as a 19 year old fresh from poly doing admin can also get the same amount.
The 1k ($800 net) should be enough to cover all the normal car cost like petrol, erp, parking, servicing etc. But important thing is do you have a car now? If you have is it going to expire soon in a few years?
Because if you need to buy/replace a car in the next few years, base on current prices the allowance definitely not enough for instalment & normal expense. This mean you need to fork out from your basic which is very low. Do your sums and see what is the result nett pay.
I suspect roughly your bonus need to be about 8 months+ at least for you to live a decent life in Singapore with the car.
Also just kaypoh a bit, how come you navy looking for a 2k job? They didnt renew your contract after 6 years isit?

For a start in sale job, just buy small and near 10 years old car. If it breaks down, take Taxi on those inconvenient days....

like that xiong lehz. haha. taxi also expensive. plus sales travel really a lot. unless you hack care one. think best is know what your company target market industry. how is your company product ranking as compare to competitor. of course sales skill count a part. but when selling to most mnc, they request for standard brand, which no matter what also hard to attack in.

Not practical. Even a normal jap car with 1 year left cost >15k now. His 1 year allowance 12k only nia, where got enough? Taxi now so expensive, average $25 per trip to/fro city, sales likely need at least 3-4 trips a day. That is like 2k taxi fare v.s. 1k allowance, not enough.
