Don't be butt hurt at facts leh. Third rate means third rate lah. Work harder to improve your skillset and then you have a shot at first rate companies like meta and google.
Or you can continue convincing yourself that Shopee is top tier. Up to you since it's your career.

If people can get into google, do you think they will still want to join Shopee? The answer is clear.
The hype in tech industry is drawing people to join. So long they can get into a tech company does not matter which one.

Yes so they shouldn't get butt hurt at facts when they're just not good enough for google
A fresh grad who get only get into DBS and not Goldman Sachs should not feel butt hurt at the objective fact that DBS < Goldman Sachs.

Top companies will not comment or disclose their salary package. You can only get a glimpse of the average salaries via articles through sources such as glassdoor.
You dont see employees of top companies commenting on their salaries via public forums.
Whereas right here we have a great deal of discussion on shopee fresh grad salary.
Advice for fresh grads is to prove that you are good and get into the top companies.

I'm assuming you're defining 1st rate vs 3rd rate based on learning experience and company branding?
If so I agree with you 100%. I'd gladly take a lower pay at Google than Shopee... Google, just the name alone would boost your resume so high up I wouldn't even be surprised if people who started at junior / mid SWE at Google stayed there forever and don't job hop.
Their WLB and benefits are insane... thousands of dollars just for wellness use and this is not just gym memberships... you can buy headphones, gaming chairs, standing desks etc every year...

A China-style 996 sweatshop running what is essentially an online shopping centre with crappy UI and is full of crappy OEM products from China, is most definitely not anyone's idea of a first rate tech company.

They want to hire from the best companies but not everyone wants to join them.
