Is there a significant impact in the long term with a $200 difference per honors class, considering that the gap widens with each annual increment? Or does it become less relevant as salary is tied to senior titles post-promotion, where the class of honors is no longer a determining factor?

Yes, definitely losing out in long run as the differences will just snowball. You should retake your degree for better honors class first before joining.

if you perform well on the job, there is a one time quantum jump in pay to catch up. everything is performance based eg. a high honours graduate who perform badly will find his career stagnate, pay increase slow, bonus low. no orgn will continue paying you according to some halo effect of your qualification, just common sense

Sure, common sense. But appraisal is subjective. and of cse, one can say that if organisation have overlooked your contribution, and indeed u are really good, u should be able to find better appreciation , higher paying job elsewhere. also common sense mah. reality ?
