I believe it's also based on last drawn salary, so that they can attract ppl from FAANG. I was also offered 8k++ on grade G

Considering they've been losing mid and seniors a lot, and with the current market, ppl can always go work in private and get that high salary before coming back to negotiate. Life's never fair in the first place..
