Calling them before interviews might give you an advantage during actual interviews i.e. showing that you're prepared can actually score some points. Ask the right questions to get more inside knowledge. If got friends inside, better still. I've never tried this - another possible way is to use facebook to link up the insiders to find out more.

AM is a very dead end job. My guess is that you didn't go through the local education system and probably don't know what an AM does nor have seen one in action.

The title is overrated/inflated/overly flowery imo.

No. I'm actually a fresh grad. Thought stated in the site that AD normally needs experience. I an looking at position for a particular cluster under HQ. Any one roughly know the job role that I will be facing as AM?

I have a question. I have 2 friends working in PA; one of them graduated with a local deg while the other joined with a diploma and later gotten a private deg. Will the progression be the same for both of them since both are considered as deg holders? I know the friend with private deg started with a slightly lower salary.

Definitely no. Degree itself is kind vague. A degree from Harvard and one from NUS, they are both degree but recognized differently.

You will realize that if there are opportunities for AM course, the local degree holder will get to go for it first.

In general, degree determines your starting point and initial CEP. Once you're in, no one would remember which uni or what class u get.

Oh. Meaning local degree might get an initial higher starting salary while the rest depends on future performance. Hmm..then it won't be a bad idea to actually study 2 years private uni than 4 years local uni in that sense. But I think progression will still somehow depends on which uni you are from since govt sector favours local and some other ivy league overseas uni from what has been told by some of my friends. Another poster also stated that graduates from local uni have better chances for future recommendations to take up the role of AM.

1) Provided the agency HR recognize the private degrees. 2) HR may also need to calculate the min no. of ACU i.e. too little/short may get rejected from start.

Local degrees still much safer bet. I won't recommend ppl going for private degrees if given a choice.
