Hello great people of the internet

Background: UOL 2nd lower hons, 2 years of exp in private sector earning 5.5k (non-bank), lost the job, looking for new opportunities for about half year now, received 1-yr contract offer from a ministry at MX12 band 3.5k. Contract may be converted to FT or renewed based on performance

The job scope is aligned with what I am interested in but the pay is just unattractive. Should I take the offer (job hunting is really tough during covid) and "think long-term" because having a govt job in my industry seems reputable and I can get to learn in a relatively stable environment?

TLDR received offer from a ministry, am ok with everything except for the pay but unsure if I am too narrow minded

8.3K for average degree holder, Mx11A ceiling. If demonstrate leadership capability, then can climb to MX10.

I’ve been asking and answering questions ever since I start applying for Public sector this year.

I’ll share what’s the process like for me. I try to be as detailed as possible while maintaining my anonymity. I’ll start from the invitation for first interview. Job application was for LTA position.

Week 0: Received email from I believe is one of my future colleague for preliminary interview.
Week 1: Interview with future colleagues up to DD level.
Week 2:Received email from HR indicating I was shortlisted and invited for formal interview
Week 4: Interview with HR recruiter, DD, director and group director
Week 4.5: Received verbal offer. To wait 2-3 weeks for approvals and clearances
Week 8: Received offer with salary package and offer.

All in all is around 2 months with 2 public holidays

Hope these are helpful.

What were the approvals and clearances that took about 3.5 weeks to be completed?

Didn’t ask. But that is needed no matter what in order for them to offer you.
