I find this very strange. Aren't SWE all top earners? Why would you go into education when you can be making big bucks in other companies instead?

Am 43 still ips 6, 18 years plus in software.
Will leave if they doesn't promote me next year.

no, most will end at about 8.x k which is the pinnalce amount for non-appointment holder
