Is doing project management(construction) more well paid then being an architect? i found that NUS there is a course on project and facilities management. Is this course worth studying? i am sick and tired of the long hours spent in designing and is looking for a change.

It’s definitely worth the 7-10 years before becoming a chartered architect, the satisfaction seeing your work finally TOP is second to none.

don't waste your time in those firms.. esp big firms! useless. example. ADDP, P&T, A61 , etc .. heard from my friends working there... their pay is too low ... better shift to smaller firms.

Have been feeling very depressed ever since I am in this profession for 7 years. getting 3.8k. have to work OT almost every week.
If I work in a developer firm, what will be the scope of work like?

I heard that the Professional exam for architects is very hard to pass and not worth the time spend to become an RA as there is no obvious increment in pay unless you sign as an QP? Any truth in this?

What kind of firm are you working in?
Could more people working in this industry esp fresh grads provide more details on how well architects are paid today?

Architect's Pay
The trick is this, get your License as early as possible, (+2-3 years after you graduate). Just keep the Licence in your pocket, one day it will make a big difference. It may not bring you immediate pay rise but when you're senior enough - 6-7 years - there's a difference if you're QP or just another foreign trained designer. Then, if you're going to sign as a QP, you better get at least Director or Equity in the firm. Otherwise never sign.
