Posts 7652 to 7660 proves the unethical nature of car dealers.

Despite the fact that the likelihood of anyone buying a car due to reading some posts on anonymous is extremely low, the car dealer goes to such extraordinary lengths (eg flooding a thread that was it meant for them) for such an infinitesimally small likelihood of securing a sale.

In short, desperation.

How you know ppl not rushing to buy car after reading those posts? Just cuz u dun buy diesnt mean other ppl also dun buy. So good deal, must buy. Buy more win more. Dun buy is your loss.

It is one thing to discuss the COE trend, demand and supply, but this is really childish.

There should be a minimum age control in this forum.

You are doing well

With COE at today's low price, do you plan to change to new car? If not the COE will escalate in 2019 and that's about the time your COE will expire.

With our annual savings, we can afford a new car in 5 years time even if COE go higher. We will buy the cheaper brands.

Do you have advice how we can prepare for retirement?

Not advisable to spend money on cars unless existing car is a lemon. Invest in some reits or high dividend stocks such as sph, telco, singpost etc, to continue building up your retirement funds.

You should take out the $500K flat out of your net worth calculation, primary resident shouldn't be included.

Why are you saving so little when you are debt free?

When spend quite a lot to support our parents (both sides) as well as tuition for the kids.

You're doing much better than most couples in Singapore because you're debt free, own your home and car outright. Many so called "rich" people are still in debt. For instance, they bought their luxury condo for $2m and take a loan $1.5m. And they bought their continental car for $250k with loan of $125k. They are deep in debt whereas you're debt free. These people think they have good high paying jobs forever until they suddenly got retrenched due to restructuring or they simply cost too much. They suddenly have to downgrade from a luxury condo to a 3 room HDB flat. Better to be humble and debt free.
