better in terms of what?

GDFM isn't a real training, just adhoc online lectures and exam OSCE stations very easy if you are a GP seeing cases regularly. good enough to function for 95% of GP cases.

residency prepares you for MMed - more complex chronics, probably more suited for public sector patients with multimorbidities that require more coordination of care and working with SOC.

I think doctors absolutely live well everywhere, as all people have health problems and they need to be addressed. They won't be out of work.

Question

Hi all, I'm currently doing IMT training in the NHS in England, currently an IMT3 which means that I have just under five years to go until I get my CCT (completion of training at which point I will be a consultant)..

I'm pursuing gastroenterology although my heart is specifically with hepatology. I'm considering doing a Phd. I'm just wondering whatwould be best for my job prospects if I were to go to Singapore again? I want to work in a private hospital, would the Phd make much of a difference for my chances of landing a job and the salary I would be earning? I don't have PR currently sadly, would that make it more difficult to find a private gig?

I'm hearing anywhere between 300 and 800k being bandied around in terms of salary as a gastroenterologist/hepatologist - any truth to those numbers?

NHS absolutely kena sai, the sooner I leave the better so if those three years of doing a Phd don't make much of a difference, I will forego them.

u hit the nail on the head
There are some very insecure GPs on this forum. If they are successful GPs making lots of money, wouldn't be insecure and posting this comment. Likely those CMI MO/drop out residents become hired GPs eeking out a 10 to 15K salary. Money not enuff to boost their ego, finding no satisfaction from work and now need to validate themselves professionally that GDFM = M.med because both are registered FPs. Haha

Aiyah, end of the day happy can already, no need to diss each other. I also look forward to locum gp life when i made enough money, paid off my mortgages and has a self generating nest of money. $100 per hour locum , i work 3 morning a week get enough to feed myself and family can already. Keep the mind active, has spare time for myself instead of working like a dog seeing 50 ungrateful, complaining , self entittled patients a day, still need to smile to them despite them being FON.

but let me repeat again, GDFM standard is cannot fight M.Med. Its a fact. No need to get angry about it.

Can explain how? All jobs have their upsides and downsides. Even GPs slacker ones earn very comfortably compared to some lower paying white collar jobs. At the very least, got condo and lower end Conti car standards, especially if your spouse is also an income earner.
