i think it is highly dependent on availability i.e. resignations typically (expansion rarely). from what i heard, the team i was in was not planning to retain the trainee last year but decided to do so after an associate tendered during that period and subsequently, another resigned.

List of UK law schools recognised for admission to Singapore Bar narrows: ://.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/list-of-uk-law-schools/1677378.html

The eight universities dropped from the list are:
University of Exeter
University of Leeds
University of Leicester
University of Liverpool
School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
University of Manchester
University of Sheffield
University of Southampton
Based on estimates TODAY obtained from Contact Singapore that the fourth Committee on the Supply of Lawyers cited in its 2013 report, the eight schools accounted for 30 per cent, or 221, of the 729 Singaporean law graduates from the UK in the past three years.

It depends. on your particular department and where there is work coming in. its also hard to say given a 2 year gap between your signing and you actually starting, what the market will actually be like then.
There's a big 4 firm in particular with a reputation for relatively poorer retention rate. hint: its one of the biggest by headcount (among the 4). best of luck

Does this penny pinching extend to trainees' honorariums?
I've been hearing horror stories from friends abt how local grads are offering to undertake practice training without a honorarium just so they can qualify first. :/

JLVs and QFLPs usually don't give as much bonus? i'm in one now and a senior associate is paid about 150k per annum and up. that is not a lot?

Big 4 pays competitively? From the 2014 survey it seems like average pay is about 5.5k.
