Can anyone shed some light on whether the hiring market for lateral (corporate) lawyers is recovering?

I think most firms are still on a hiring freeze. Hiring will be limited to fresh called, replacement positions, new teams.

Most law firms are still taking a cautious approach to the next year.

Is that guy from Fervent going to say that his firm is again hiring?

I'm not about small and mid, but big 4 and international market is doing better than ever, especially for Restructuring/financing lawyers.

Default RLT and Part A

Hi according to SILE website, RLT and Part A can be done together. Was wondering if anyone has managed to complete both concurrently and if it’s actually feasible?

Or if it’s better to do them separately, would people recommend to do RLT first or Part A first? Thanks in advance!

Many have done it and it is feasible. You may have to take minimum 2 weeks study leave before the exams. Best if your RLT ends a month before Part A.

The Part A course is optional and not very meaningful either. Assuming you do RLT separate and without the part A course, you’ll have 6 months of idle time not doing much. You’re unlikely to have discipline to study for 6 mths as there’s no hurry. Might as well do RLT or do a temp job.

Choose RLT/part A based on your timelines. There’s pros n cons to it all.

Huh why blame cecas, lawyers are not in the ceca professions list like doctors, IT allowed to come to Singapore to practice as equivalent. At least not yet anyway.....

Don't do this unless you're sure you can manage.

We had a trainee in our team do this - it disrupted her training and our ability to case manage. She eventually failed a few papers at Part A. We also did not retain her. It was not a good experience for our team.
