Let's face it, even though you call yourself a senior you sound like the type likely to take the easy route of going in-house as soon as possible, where your position will then become subject to the wax and wane of ceca enforceability. Instruments such as ceca are actually a good policy move to trim the herd and keep inferior so-called seniors like yourself out of the workforce.

U seem to be the poster who keeps harping on CECA.
Are you from that particular country? If not why do you keep putting yourself up at the expense of core Singaporeans?

FYI - look at what NSE/BSE did to SGX recently...
since you keep harping on CECA and I’m trying to suss out which camp are you on, and by virtue of that we can pick out where you come from

This is an era of protectionism, and insular thinking. You see the reasons why UK trained grads have to come back is the result of a British first policy. It is not easy to get UK working visa nowadays. the fat and happy days are over.

In same vein of pacifying our electorate, our nation also applied work permit regulations on the 2005 CECA, much to the dissatisfaction of their trade minister. (I know law is not on the list of 127 occupations, but IT professionals got a big hit)

NSE/BSE did that as they felt they are losing money from SGX actions. They feel that SGX futures draw liquidity out of Indian markets.

Local law grads are always angsty with UK trained grads not because UK trained grads are lousy but is in the spirit of protectionism.

Unfortunately, we are all selfish by nature. The more educated you are, the more selfish you will be.

Totally agree on the above save for one point, that is the average overseas uni law grad is of lower calibre than the average local law grad.

Don't get me wrong, not ALL overseas trained grads are lousier than ALL local law grads.

The variance in quality between the worst and the best UK grads is wider than the case for local grads.

If you plotted a normal distribution curve for quality, the deviation for overseas students would be far wider than the for local students, which would be narrow and sharp in the mean.

IF UK grads mean = local grad mean, AND UK grads variance > local grads variance (you suggested), this implies that a good number of overseas grad (for eg oxbridge) will be better than the local in term of quality.

Although this may be controversial, it may not be untrue.

here now it doesnt matter where u graduated

as long as any one of u continue to make submissions on this retarded point without referring to evidence such as course syllabi, quality of professors etc

u are all low quality as far as the rest of us are concerned, and ur law degree probably isnt worth the paper its printed on

Would you say that KCL, LSE and UCL (the three London unis) are not as good as compared to local unis? Of course let’s not talk about the rest
