Hi specdr, I asked as an outsider. All the while I tot drs are quite okie in earning. I din noe the variance can be that much. A Polyclinic doc versus say a restructured hospital doc. If they are at the same age, the hospital doc wins hands down. What I can't fathom is the poly doc is like working in a production line.

It is an open secret that MOH uses FTs in such 'factory' polyclinics. Don't believe go visit your closest polyclinic. Whether this practice is good or not for us older and poorer Singaporeans is the question.

I am a locum GP Dr and I earned $150k last year. Now the locum rate is about $80 to $100 per hr. But I just found out that I can earn $150 per hr if I locum in A&E so I am thinking of doing that. Can earn $18k per month working just 30 hrs a week and earn over $200k per annum.

There was a GP who got caught evading 300k (??) of taxes. Is he an exception rather than the norm?

I work only about 35 hrs a week unlike many other GPs who work longer hrs. Also, I do not do aesthetics. I think those who do things like botox prob earn much more.

hmm i think most of these high-earning tax evading GPs owned their own clinic practices. not many GPs go into "business" and among those that do, the more enterprising ones are able to rake in more cash, just like anyone else in any other businesses.

The interest of the job as well as being able to have an out side life more than compensates for not earning as much as a cardio-thoracic surgeon. By the way, I'm a GP and loving it!

So are you keen to move on to other place to work as a GP
