Unhappy Career options for a fresh graduate in Mechanical Engineering

I am going into my final year in ntu mech engg, wondering about what career options I have after I graduate. My gpa is slightly above average ~4.7, pretty confident of maintaining my fch. Abit sad that engineering is considered a dead industry, given that the workload and difficulty is more than other courses.

What are some career options I have after graduating? So far I have a few in mind:

1) apply for job in the gov sector/public service, assuming i can maintain my fch, should be able to get a decent salary of around 3.8k

2) try to get a scholarship to pursue msc in mech engg (is it really worth it though?)

3) some people have mentioned that banks are employing engineering grads, anyone can elaborate more on this? Like what banks or positions? and also what skills will they be looking out for?

4) i heard private sectors pay engineers poorly, is it true?

appreciate any insights for anyone, thanks in advance!

wont say engineering is dead. There is always a fluctuation in job demands. Practically i think most of the industry are taking hit from the covid situation. Cutting cost in all sort of ways.

you could consider MNCs that are looking for application engineer.

Is it common for a MNC to sponsor masters?

and also what other kinds of engineering role would be suitable for a someone that grad with a mech engg degree?

Depend on management/company approach. My previous role in MNC does not need to have master. hence, the management did not sponsor anyone with similar role as mine that wanted to go for masters.

why not ask your seniors on the type of jobs that are working as? it definitely ranges from sales, technical, project, service.....

MNCs normally don't hire fresh grads. But there are exceptions with those high turnover rates companies due to demanding industry. Their pay varies from really **** wage to very impressive high wages depending on your competence and contributions. But don't expect much on fresh grad pay. Nobody in reality with their sane mind will pay handsomely for zero experience and track record.

That's typical of MNCs. Ruthlessly competitive at a global level.
