@at their mercy?? Come on... This only means there isn't a good match before you and the employer. Don't think yourself so low...

And you hold MBAs, Masters, with possible glamorous past exp... I believe you can be stars in one way or another, if not in DBS

Maybe DBS likes to low-ball ppl and realize that top folks are too expensive to hire.
emaps are likely to come in at senior associate or AVP levels at max. think about how much they can pay you in a local bank if you really have many years of good exp beforehand

Just curious (from non-banking background), is there a big different in salaries between front office and back office/middle office for the same corporate level in local banks like DBS?
Heard the diff is quite wide in foreign banks, not sure in local ones.

Trust me, DBS front office guys are poor ones, paid the same as back office warriors

The difference will always be wide since FO brings in the revenue while MO/BO are cost centers. The higher pay is not unwarranted since FO is the ones who faces PnL pressure and has lower job security (though I think this is less of a concern in local banks).
I believe the local banks base pay is generally lower than BBs for all roles across the board, but the FO bonus is generally better (in terms of no. of months) since a lot of European BBs are seeing weak performance. US BBs are definitely the best pay masters but job security is highly questionable.
