Salary for Geophysicist (Oil & Gas)

Hi, all,

I'm going to graduate soon with a PhD in Physics. My research works during my PhD involved some numerical simulation, optimization and solving differential equations. These skills are found to be relevant to the geophysics field in the Oil & Gas MNC.

Recently, I was offered by a head hunting company for his client (a MNC in Oil & Gas). I knows if I continue to work as a post-doc in my research field, my salary will be between SGD 4.5-5k. I said since I'm not really familiar with the geophysics field, SGD4.2 k is sufficient for me. However, the head hunter said I can just write SGD 4.5 K and subjects to negotiation.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what is the basic starting salary for geophysicist in an Oil & Gas company.
