basically MSO = deskbound job. i've not seen any MSO doing outdoor operations / environment. almost all MSO i've seen are females.
TSO is different, bcos it may involve working in outdoor environment using physical strength. the range of your job scope is very wide. u can be lab technician. in my case, im doing daily repair n maintenance of boats as well as managing stores. working hours is normal like office, but u may have to work on wkends (they compensate u though).

Actually true, most MSO do office bound job.. most time at office.. i work as MSO in the IT dept.. not so stirct abt coming in and going off hours.. i come 8.30 and knock off abt 5.30-5.45 like that.. lunch is abt 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs.. but job wise, tons of work to do.. but civil sector good got quite good benefits, 18 day leave, parent care leave, childcare leave, 2 day mc without the need to produce mc.. bonus one year 3 times.. worst part also i miss out on the 15% increment in 2012, i come in abt 4 months after in increment, hence my start salary that time only $2150.. now after a year convert perm increase $100..

i thought ppl who joined after the 15% increment in 2012 (eg 2013 / 14) will also automatically get the increment?

Better don't get your hopes too high. To confirm it'll be better to ask your HR for verification.

Hi, just to clarify, does the TSO rank hierarchy exactly the same as MSO?
TSO Grade VI
TSO Grade V
TSO Grade IV
TSO Grade III
TSO Grade II
TSO Grade I
those TSO in local polytechnics also consider under this TSO scheme?
Thanks!

like what the other guy said, dont get your hopes too high. bcos firstly u entered as MSO scheme with a local dip, and only went for further studies after that. your HR may not recognize your degree. it's best u check with your HR b4 pursuing further studies for your degree.
your case is very different from those who enter MX scheme straight away with a big 3 degree ( NUS / NTU / SMU).
there's another highly risky method i know of. but pls dont do below method if u have no savings at all. if u graduated with recognized degree but your HR / organization refuses to promote u to a senior scheme worthy of a degree (eg HASE / HTSS / CAO), u can resign n find a senior post in another ministry / organization. the search will be long though, as u will be competing with other respective degree holders. unless ur resume / work experience is very outstanding...

yes, TSO rank hierarchy is the same as MSO. the rank starts from grade VIII to I, but i personally have not seen any1 achieving grade III before in my 4 years in the Govt Service. even the best uncles / aunties generally retire @ grade IV.
NOTE: diploma holders and those with lower educational qualifications are welcomed to the TSO & MSO scheme, but your pay will be vastly different as it depends on your grade.
an ITE grad entering TSO scheme, will be given TSO VIII, earning only abt 1.4k to 1.5k, as compared to a diploma grad. the diploma grad will be given TSO VI upon entering, with a pay of 2k.
btw, pls pls pls if u rly have a degree from UniSIM / SIM Global Education, dont fking stay in MSO / TSO scheme. u r bloody wasting your time n talent n the value of ur degree.
hope this clarifies all your doubts.
