depends which ministry/statboard you are talking about.
the selection process for those that I applied to seems rather easy compare to private sector.

if you are not a scholar or your results are only average, dun join the public sector. you will see for yourself and feel like **** when you see those with better results than you (non-work related at all) promoting faster than you even if you are much better in work than them.

result wise sld be okay, im expecting a first class... but i dont think result matter so much for the one im applying... i toked to the HR manager before and she say they onli look for ppl with atleast second upper.... so i think there isnt really a very much difference in results among ppl working there.

the public sector im apply for is directly related to my studies... n the hr manager literally brightens up when she hear about my second major which is also closely related, lol. so i think as long as i dont do too badly for my interview, i think i sld have a good chance.

I'm surprised. I thought you'll be applying for a job in the private sector? What made you apply for public then? Can you tell what are your basic degree and your minor?

You seem like a bright chap, why waste your life away in the bureaucracy?

As a farmer, all you will ever achieve in public sector is either an assistant manager / junior managerial level executing top directions no matter how good you are. They only give fake inflated titles that sound big, you will never reach the senior decision policy making level, these are all taken up by the scholars.

Though in broad essence I agree with you, but things are changing and the way things work in the public sector have also evolved to meet the changes in external environment. At the end of the day, if you're good, you're good still holds. Though I don't deny that one have to fight much harder for opportunities and leaving good impressions as compared to a scholar.

doesnt apply to public sector at all. no matter how good u r u will never make it to AO or CE as a farmer. those on AO have completely different career path and payscale that is as good as private sector, but as a farmer even if ur a super star the best you will ever make it is 1 level below Dy Sec.

You don't have to be a scholar to be on the AO scheme. There are people who are not scholars, slowly working their way up to be AO through programmes like MAP.
