Default Private & Public sector pay comparison

Does public sector (statboard and ministries) usually pay better for entry-level degree positions as compared to private sector? Is this counterbalanced by the fact that private sector usually has much more tangible pay increment in the following years as compared to public sector?

Generally Yes.

Let just compare engineer in government vs engineer in private

both 1st class male, assume same performance, stay in the same job:
-in government starting range from 3.7-4k, in 5 years sure can hit 5-6k range
-in private sector starting range from 3-3.7k, in 5 years sure can hit 4-5k range

Do private sector employees have an easier time job-hopping than public sector? My opinion is that public sector skills and experience are as transferable as those acquired in the private sector.

I bet that 100% someone from the public sector has much more "network" and "network bargaining power" compared to someone from the private sector. Maybe someone who jumped ship from public procurement to private marketing can correct me on this hehe
