Culture wise not that bad like people say here
Thanks for your input. To be honest, I am not interested in how they benchmark against job group. If they cannot afford, the least they could do is to tell me at the start instead of wasting my time to go through so many interviews and end up with a offer that is monthly pay cut and more or less equal in total package. I expect better for a MNC.

As for culture, the most concern for me is many people here mention there is a lot of wayang and meeting and not doing work. My own character is very direct regardless of rank and just say what I think is right and head down to do work asap and move on to next issue. I tell my reports not to call for meetings unless they have something critical and my own boss never call for meeting except for a regular monthly.

In your experience, is Shell like that?

Oil and gas industry isn't doing well, shell notwithstanding.

You may also not get your desired performance bonus. If I am you, I won't leave. Most people job hop with a minimum premium of 15%, and that is bare minimum.

Hi, I am the Ist poster that replied u. I understand your concern. If the package is impt to you among other factors then you may just stay on in current company. I was given a much better package by Shell. To be honest, the pay only increase according to value in job group. They dont pay you even if you are 10 years in the same job group. You got to move on to get higher pay. I think that there may be other reasons for your pay cut. (Which I cant comment much without more info).

I think if you are direct, you can thrive in the culture because everyone is free to speak up. I dont experience what wayang culture here etc. At least with the people I have met. Of course there may be some who wayang. But come on lets me realistic, I think there will be issues/wayang/politics everywhere. As a mid career professional, I have seen much worse places.

At least from my experience all that is said in this forum are not true.

Imo your better off working for fast pace mnc. Im in o&g industry and shell is one of our client which I interact with their site people regularly. In my exp they are very bureaucratic & slow pace ie. need to go through a lot of red tape & many approval before doing even simple thing.

[QUOTE=Unregistered;48062]I am graduating this year and been offered a job with another big oil major. Been offered 4k/month and 3 months aws. So this could be your rough gauge on how much you are expecting to get. My guess would be higher...

TDP program is for people with 2 to 3 years commercial experience (need not be in trading) as there will be structured training provided. I believe the website has the information. Application is now open but its very competitive.
