It is true for most people. Management can always push for good scores for people they like. Can even promote 1 year into the service. It's all about whether ur boss like u enough to do the justification or not.

In 2023 what are the factors taken into account for deciding salary for fresh grads?
Is it:
- The job type (so tech will be higher)
- Local or private uni
- Honours classification
- Interview performance
Was wondering because my friend who said he is just a pass in local uni had quite a good starting salary. Was wondering if it is the interview performance or they see that he has good potential?
Or is it just because he is in tech

Istana
Anyone applied for Istana and was called for interview? If interview result is unsuccessful, will they inform u? If so, how long they usually take to inform u?

I often see that fresh grad pay is pegged to honours class.
Can I know what the classification is?
First class honours
Second upper
Second lower
Third
Pass
Does every level add extra money, or is it by groups e.g. FCH has $x more, and the rest are treated the same?

yes, your salary grade usually increases with your classification

gross monthly salary
i'm confused with the gross monthly salary column under LOA! My verbal offer was about 3.6-7k, and my LOA writes 4k with *breakdown of % of basic salary, MVC, NPC and NPVP. I'm fresh grad, second upper. Is the increment adjusted based on my second upper classification? or is it the initial verbal offer didn't include the variable components? thanks!

3.6-7k quoted should be the range for your grade, meaning 7k is the ceiling. That's why they offer you the 4k, which is slightly higher than the lowest in your range. Sounds like the breakdown is quite clear about the components, which variable components you talking about? if they verbally offer you X, X itself is the gross salary comprising the different components.
