I have ever been offered a position at SB through an informal interview though. It really depends on whether the interviewer likes you or not.

I am preparing for an interview with a SB. I am working in another SB under another ministry. If I got the new position, it will be confirmed around end of Oct. And the notice period for my current organization is three months. This means I can start the new job earliest at next Feb.

But to get the year end AWS, my current organization requires to remain in service till end of March (three more months in service). And the performance bonuses will be credited at the end of March which requires to remain in service three more months thereafter or else must refund back.

I like the job scope of the new position and want to join the pay scale of that SB. However, it's very painful to sacrifice AWS and bonuses of a few months. I really need some advice on how to negotiate with the HRs and managers on how to minimize the loss. Thanks very much!

Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it. The long notice period of 3 nonths is a major limitation. I would suggest informing the SB during your interview of your notice period and see if they're ok with it. They might not be as they want to get someone in asap. If that's the case then the case is settled.
If I wwre you, I'll only worry about next steps after going for the interview.

Default Interview at Supreme Court

Hi guys!

I’m currently having a bout of both hopeful and disappointment, yet resentment. Allow me to share my experience.

I went for an interview at one of the judiciary organisation (a short walk from City Hall Mrt Stn) on the 7 September. The interview went well. In fact, the interviewers seemed rather keen to hire me. was informed by HR after the interview that I’ll be notified of the outcome in 2-3 weeks’ time.

Ok, the drama unfolds.

Today I called HR and was informed that “the panel is still considering and finalising.” I mean, cmon la, if they are really interested, they would have called and offered me verbally if I was suitable? Why am i getting this feeling that they are giving such reasons to hide and eventually, discard us with standard template rejection letters at the end. Why can’t they just admit that they have already offered someone and in the process of getting him/her.

I mean, isn’t that better than giving us endless futile hopes?

Just to share my timeline.

Went for an interview with a SB. Interview went well. Only 1 interviewer and a HR manager that were present during the interview. Oh, had a writing test. I think I aced it coz the interviewer was always referring to what I wrote in the paper; and agreeing to it.

HR called me in a few days (4 working days). I asked for the salary offered but HR wanted me to agree first before she submit it to higher mgmt and eventually Vital for approval. However, I rejected it was a contract post. Even the HR dissuaded me from accepting coz she knew I had a perm position currently.

Moral of the story, if the hirer wants you, fast hand fast leg. At least a verbal offer or indication (not a concrete offer). Coz they don’t want to waste time submitting approvals to senior mgmt and then you ungrateful reject it at the very last moment. That’s the last thing that HR wants it to happen.

But of course, different HR, different practices. Some HR would conduct background checks, salary packages before offering you verbally and etc etc.

I think you're the one being dramatic here. It's normal for HR to do this for non-first choice candidates. Just move on and keep applying for other positions. All the best.

I mean, cmon la, it is not even 3 weeks. There may be other candidates better than you and they need time to consider? This is just your guess on the actual situation.

Go for another role if you didnt get this. Cmon la, dont need to feel disappointed or resentful.

Cmon la, grow up up and dont whine.

Bro.. u know right all interviewer will smile and looked keen like they really like u.. but behind that smile no one knows... and even if u imprss, u might be their 2nd or 3rd choice.. that y they never send u rejection mail.. if first choice reject offer then go to 2nd choice.. obviously they already make up their mind who they want.. just thst they wont tell..

I can empathise with you as I had what I thought was a promising interview but did not materialise to a job offer. it has been just 2 weeks since your interview , so you might still have a chance. Nonetheless do continue to look for other job opportunities so you will not waste your time waiting . Good luck !

I have some questions.

If someone will to resign from a Statboard/Ministry after working for 1 month, and decide to rejoin another Statboard/Ministry after a few years time, will the person be blacklisted in future? If the reason for leaving was due to mismatch in job scope

When the person who interviewed with the new Statboard/Ministry in a few years' time declared he/she was working in civil service for a short period of time, will it diminish his/her chances of returning back to the public sector?

Does civil/public service HR does background checks on previous employment in civil/public service?
