Thanks.

A typical timeline for CS/PS agencies is around 2 months to get the offer/letter of appointment. Do check-in with HR for updates if you are anxious.
Its pointless checking status on careers@gov. e.g. my previous job in a ministry application status is still reflected as submitted (after 2 years and i have left) :P and i have started my new job in a SB for a few months already (and status remains as shortlisted) :P

Hmm, I listed my friends as reference. But the HR asked me if I’m ok for them to contact my HR for referral during the interview, so I’m not sure how will they go about doing it.

Yup, will take what you said as a glimmer of hope. hopefully, it’s just due to covid and hence, the longer time to get back to me. Haha.

hi! so they said they will check with your current HR even though you did not list them as reference? just curious for my case if they will check with current HR as it would then alert them that im looking for jobs

Hi there, that was what was conveyed to me. That was what
I was thinking too, that’s why I hope the HR will be professional enough to keep it to themselves and not alert my boss about my intention to job hop.

Sound like you are screwed. Pretty sure your current HR will have to inform your supervisor and yourself should they get contacted.
I am sure they asked if it is ok. You can say No

HR wouldn’t contact your current HR unless you’ve indicated to them it’s okay to.
For my case, HR checked in with me if I was okay for them to contact my current HR or if I prefer them to contact previous employers, such as internship supervisors.

This is correct. You need to give the approval.

May i check, when you submit your application via careers@gov, is it a compulsory/mandatory to include a cover letter? Usually i just attached my cv but i don't include my cover letter. Please share your thoughts on that. Thank you in advance for valuable inputs here.
