Go for NTU engineering. If u do well, such as getting a 2nd class honours & above, you'll get to make up for the poor results u attained at A levels. NTU is by far an Uni with world class standing and recognised degree certification. Many graduate engineers landed positions in business developments, banking positions (have to start from backend operations though), teaching and civil service. During your time in NTU, u shall continue to interact with high calibre people such as PRC scholars and students from top tier JCs.

If you opt for SIM business, your best shot will possibly be a relationship manager position in banks, sales & customer executive in MNCs (many do recognise SIM degrees), insurance line or local SMEs (for the more unfortunate ones). There will obviously be people who do well in their career but i feel a sizeable number of them will be restrained by the credentials of the degree. We can always argue about the credentials of a SIM degree till the cows come home, as there will surely be advocates & naysayers regarding this matter, but that is not the intent here. Do mind the caveat, that many organisations do not consider SIM graduates. These include government agencies and big 4 accounting firms. There may be exceptions, especially if u have connections, but generally speaking.....no.

By the way, which JC were u from?

Of course is NTU lar. SIM is just a fancy word for purchased degrees, most employers will laugh at SIM qualifications.

Are you good in maths? If not, better not take engineering.

I suggest you take a personality test to find out what out what career suits you, and then work towards that.
Personality test based on Jung and Briggs Myers typology

Firstly, I doubt you are that interested in material engineering, otherwise you wouldn't be thinking of a SIM business course as an alternative.

Secondly, are you good in math? If not, you will suffer in engineering regardless of whether you are interested in materials engineering or not. You will become a mediocre engineer.

Thirdly, what's so interesting about material engineering? My friend did material engineering in NTU and he is now working in a factory in Tuas with lousy pay and prospects, working alongside 95% FTs who can't wait to kick him out so that they can bring in their own countrymen. That's a lousy way to earn a living.

i am using SIM to a backup because my chances of getting into that course is 0.001%. i like Mathematics. i am interested in biomaterials and biomedical devices and would like to go into that. i am scared that i will not do well for engineering because of physics. I did not take physics in A-level.
