you only need to take 1 subject of physic in NTU year 1(either in sem1 or sem 2), just pass it...and you can forget that subject....and continue to the next subject!!!!

I asked if you are good in Math, not whether you like it or not.

You are deciding on a career based on materials eng., not a passing interest. Do re-examine whether you are really into biomaterials or not and whether you would like a career in that.

Lastly, go do the personality test and find out what you will excel in. I get the vibe that you are very unsure of yourself and thus whatever advice people give you regarding SIM business course or materials eng at NTU is just going to make you more confused.

It is not SIM who CMI, it is dumb SGporeans who can't see what's happening around them. We have FTs who graduate from don't know where and SG employers don't have problems accepting them but when it comes to our own SGporeans, they put all sorts of labels on them.

would you

1)NTU - alot more math, competition is very very harsh with all the foreigners, and you might do badly for honors

2)SIM - easier, but if u get a first class u're on par with local uni + more free time to pursue own interest

No way a first class SIM can be on par with local uni.

SIM will always loose out to NUS/NTU/SMU in civil service / stat board / GLC hiring. That itself is already half of the employment market.

The remaining half some prefer local uni while others don't care much. Bottomline is you will be at a disadvantage with a SIM cert.

SIM degree is certainly not on par with local universties. As a hiring manager, i consider degrees from NUS, NTU & SMU, even though at times i get 3rd Class or Merit. My management strongly discourages SIM degree holders, even if they are first class honours. It is not difficult to see why.

I would strongly recommend NTU Materials Engineering.

i will certainly appeal for material engineering but if all the local uni reject me, then my last resort will be SIM. i just got rejected by NUS nursing. Life is hard.
