Still not promoted to GEO 4. Female PGDE. Can someone explain why.
Maybe my CEP is low…

Not sure…..
I was in GEO 3 for 2y only
But stuck in Geo 4 for 8years.
Maybe really slowing down for newer teachers

But people around my batch / time ALL Geo 4/5 - really will be stuck for the next 10years since I think SEO is even harder to get??? 😥

Jiayou.
Sorry no advice. Internal SH has no additional responsibility allowance too (I think).
So I guess the so called ‘rule’ of promotion after 3 Bs isn’t true…

Honestly I’m not even chasing projects but kena arrived and I’m the people pleaser type. Drowning under projects and ‘admin’ like tracking numbers, tallying & collating data for external programmmes, rams, forms to purchase things, all the prep work for school events (slides, training, documentation), PD ‘projects’ for the school (reading, slides, sharing).

I’d spending much less time focusing on editing my teaching resources etc. I’m so torn. I am confident of my teaching abilities and skills so I know my students can still learn but if I can’t keep up with the other ‘projects’ other colleagues will be affected, not just me. Exhausted.

Hello. What’s FHQ? I saw this mentioned a few times.

Facilitated HQ posting. In short, "invited" to do a HQ stint, which is often offered to those with good CEP at the earlier part of their career.

That was during my time, but I noted a preference for SEO officers as well at the later part of my stint, perhaps due to fewer posts for SEOs in school as well due to sch mergers. HQ will have more flexibility to take in SEOs for jobs.

Could be a CEP issue, so I think it is good to check on a few things:

Have a conversation with your RO on CEP. Good work doesn't equate to good CEP. Personally, I have a JH I wish to groom and the SLs acknowledge that he teaches well and handles projects well, but he has terrible decorum (always complaining about the extra work, say things without thinking and not befitting for MM).

Must understand that if your CEP is SEO1, that means you are expected to reach there before retirement (maybe a few years before). That means your GEO5 may come in your late 30s to early 40s.

GEO5A is also a difficult grade to get, as this grade is reserved for high performing HOTs that already reached their salary cap. If you haven't reach the salary cap, you are not eligible yet. If you have potential to get to SEO1, then it is best that you get promoted from GEO5.

If that's true, that's pretty good!

[s://.straitstimes.com/singapore/housing/strong-demand-for-5-room-bto-flats-in-ang-mo-kio-despite-prices-of-up-to-877k[/

If you grew up in mature area, your parents in mature area, and your school also in mature area (because close to your parents' house), you want to move far far away to ulu areas like tengah? And end up not having grandparents to help out with taking care of kids?

Think something is wrong when hdb heartlands areas like TPY, AMK, Bedok are considered atas areas. And even after working around 5 years, maybe hit 5k. Will still find it tough to afford a flat meant for first timers. And how long do you expect couples to save up before buying such flats? 10 years? And what about family planning? Got factor in the 5 year construction time?

And it is very sad to see such sentiments that HDB flats are atas, when they are public housing for commoners.

If they are atas, then what about ECs, private condos, and landed?
