Why not try out relief teaching. To get a gauge of workload trained teacher, just multiple relief load by 4x.. if you like the hierarchical confucius environment, sign up for it. Relief teaching will give you a level playing field during application process. No relief, you are handicapped.

This is quite a big thing and I'm wondering why such important statistics didn't make it into national news.

If you have no degree, don't sign on with MOE. Unless you are planning to use the credentials to start your own private art classes.

Non degree holders do the same work at half the pay, and virtually has no career prospects.

The entire pgde cohort teaching tamil was from india during my time. Unsure about other language subjects.. seems like not enough qualified singaporeans that can teach chinese and tamil. They also take in PRCs. But never malaysian Malays and its clear to know why.

Not sure what you’re trying to insinuate but I think it’s an impressive indication that our local Malay teachers are passionate enough about their own heritage to make a living out of it. Maybe it’s time for the 2 other ethnicities to step up and not rely on outsiders to keep their language alive 🤷*♂️

Stop lumping all teachers into the salaries of GEO5 ceiling or SEO range and accusing them of being overpaid and underworked.
That cap is achievable within 12-15 years. Not too far off from the 10 years that you highlighted though. So for a sinkie male, that would put you at around 35-40 years old. Not good enough ahh. To hit 8k+ by the time you're 40.
