Middle/ Back office roles
Financial / Trade Finance / Treasury / Compliance / Risk / Credit Risk analyst jobs
Hello! I’m looking to start my career after graduating from a private uni majoring in Finance but have little knowledge on the job scopes/ future prospect of the jobs above. The above positions are some of the roles I have considered and believe that I don’t mind working in. I did read up about the different positions online but couldn’t really tell which job will have a better career path in the future (ie higher employability in the long term / more job opening or hires / better progression etc as these roles are available at non financial companies as well)? I understand that for finance related usually jobs within the investment banking/front office department earns the most but i think it’s quite out of league for me since i don’t have any trading experiences and wasn’t from any top tiered/recognized uni. Many people are talking about avoiding operations/ back office roles as progression is quite stagnant. Any thoughts on this? What about middle office operations role? A recruiter recently contacted me about a securities settlement role but am I right to say that there are minimal progression for this particular role?

Hi, I don't disagree with your point on the securities settlement role.
For compliance, you may read this thread for ongoing discussions: https://forums.salary.sg/income-jobs/3243-aml-compliance-kyc-professionals-come.html#.YL2z2pMza3I
