Some thoughts here:

1. The question here is it’s a grad program for compliance so even if it’s not IB or private banking, grad program also have a standard set of requirements. So if you make it in, shouldn’t be a big issue as it shows you are a good candidate afterall that’s why you got into one of the top banks and a grad program. There’s rotations so even if you jump ship after the grad program ends, should be able to get more opportunities and better ones.

2. IB and private banking as everyone knows brings in higher salaries, but that’s also due to the client base who are high net worth individuals.

3. Consider which you are able to learn more skills that can help for your exit opportunities too, especially if you’re at the start of your career.

Really? Cos on their website under grad programmes for other countries as well, they split into both explorer and expert. Seems like explorer includes rotations while expert is straight into the project with a single department.

Oh, I'm not sure about now, but when I checked in around Aug last year it was like that.

Currently, is the job description the same for the explorer n expert?

just went to take a look. they are for different divisions, for expert it's for IB / Markets / Data which are skills that are more specialised and would thus pay better, while for explorer its for consumer banking / support roles / etc.

Ah I see, so technically can also say the explorer track is similar to local and regional banks’ MA in a sense? But barclays should be better in terms of the brand name right

Ahhh so if it’s explorer grad program, which division would be better? Consumer banking/compliance/finance etc?
