Young lady, welcome to the real world. The world doesn't revolve around your emotional tenderness. In the workplace, we all start as a nobody and people will crush our pride and hurt our feelings at certain points. If they do so after we made a mistakes, there is no argument. We did wrong, we have no right to complain.

Almost everyone you see working today has gone through that and hardened up if they did not enter the workforce already hardened from childhood.

At the end of the day, no one forced you to work where you do. It's actually a choice you made to be there. You can choose a new place to be, you can choose to stay, you can choose to be jobless. Every place will have pros and cons, nice people and monsters.

If you find it unbearable here, all that can be said is perhaps that it is no one's fault but that you are not a good mutual fit.

If this happens everywhere you go though, then you should really think about whether you are the one who is the problem.

All the best.

Yes to (1), no to (2), I was indeed scolded again with a wagging finger towards me while my direct superior cast her eyes downwards silently.

I'm also troubled by the other things you are saying... the slightly misogynistic sarcastic reference to women being treated like "esteemed beings", and how were you being used to "show her prowess"? Was anyone else there when you were scolded? Also, as to "her time needs to be respected" -> Yes. It does. Your time is worthy of respect, and so is hers. If she could be on time, why couldn't you? Did you text or email her in advance to let her know you would be late?

Seriously ah this post is so childish you need to grow up
I meant esteemed beings as in the board members ranks. I agree that they deserve high level respect but I don’t understand why there is this element of almost servitude-like submission to them. Perhaps it’s the PR-ness.

I totally agree that her time deserves respect and I did apologise, twice and even did a slight bow. I just think like if the raised voice and finger wagging behaviour was really necessary.

Old uncle, thanks for you well-written reply. I made a industry change to this because I wanted to do more for society, and I like where I am at. I think I have to just grow a thicker skin, at the end of the day, the bills will still come, and the economy isn’t wonderful for a job switch either.

I am the quiet, non-confrontational sort so idk perhaps easier to be pushed around.

Most importantly I will take it as a learning lesson to not be like one of them in the future and to always deal with compassion even to my interns
Yes I agree, to take it as a lesson learnt and to know not to behave like that.
