Default Working culture in MPA Licensing and Permit Division

Hi guys, I'm currently navigating a career decision between the MPA and SSG (attended interviews at both agencies), and I would greatly appreciate your valuable insights. If you have experience with either organization, I'd love to hear your thoughts on company culture, stress levels in various roles, and work-life balance. You guy's invaluable guidance will be beneficial as I weigh these options guys. Although, I read on glassdoor so many mixed reviews abt MPA tho. Please help me..thank u

Post Please advise

Hi, i am a fresh phd (eng degree, not maritime) graduate and I applied for a manager/snr manager position at mpa.
I completed the interview and was asked to provide details of my referee.
After providing details of the referee, i talked to the hr and found out the salary range was about 3.5k to 4k.
I was shocked because it was below what i expected.

Is this normal or did I get lowballed?

I really like this job and would prefer to take it but it is disheartening when i have other jobs offerering me more than 5k?

Do I have any chances of being able to negotiate for a better package?

What is it you like about the role? Do bear in mind that if you see an agency or any company advertising for the same roles fairly often, it also says something about their turnover rates and attractiveness of the culture. How much have you found out about the office culture?

It could be that they feel you have more academic than industry experience, and that they don’t require someone with doctorate degree, so the value of the PhD is minimal for this role.

The difference in offers is at least $12k a year. Unless you feel the roles offering you more than $5k have no job security, I would go for those roles as you could learn some skills there and negotiate for a better offer in a few years time when the MPA role is open again. Assuming you are still interested.

they will not shortchange you, if you apply other agency , properly you get the same package. Also MPA's annual package slightly different.
