I think everyone there is called a consultant. They all work to become "partners", just like lawyers in law firms. And even so, there are different types of partners, the most senior of which is "managing partner" I believe.

Actually, titles don't matter. It's the money that counts. Get your priorities right!

To be honest, I'm not an expert. Can someone from from Bain, BCG and McKinsey comment?

Management Consulted ? Consulting resumes, interviews, jobs, and case studies

Also, if you're not from Ivy League/Oxbridge/MIT etc, and if you're not among the top few in your course in a local uni, then you can pretty much forget about getting an interview.

actually is there even a management consultancy industry in Singapore? When I say consultancy firms, its really those McKinsey, Bain class and not some SMEs trying to offer some consultancy services.

For a company to seek a management consultant team to look at their processes, their company must likely be an MNC to afford their services. How many MNCs are there in Singapore and how many out of those want to hire a management consultant team?

This job is very big in the US, but I think Singapore and especially the South East Asia Region have not really caught up to the idea of Management Consultanting. There may be more opportunties of Management Consultanting in Hong Kong, China or India, but not here.

Anyone begs to differ? I hope someone proves me wrong because there are alot of fresh grads who want to be Management Consultants without thinking about the context of where we are living here. Even I had that dream once

Default MC Salary

A friend of mine recent joined one the prime consultancies in Singapore as an inexperienced grad(Bachelor). On the day the offer was made to her, the firm sent the contract together with a bottle of champagne to her house. Starting pay is a 'pultry' $5,000 gross.

For the next one year, she has been working on a project in Indonesia. Lives in a 5-star hotel, flies home every weekend. If she doesn't want to return home, she can use the same budget to travel Indonesia. Ka-ching!

Tough life isn't it. But someone's got to do it.

whats her background?

I am guessing the following.

1) She has good honors, probably first class.
2) She faced alot of competition for that position and fortunately she got it.
3) She is good looking.
4) She most likely studied Business Administration.

From what I know, its really really really difficult to get into this business, even more so than banking (discounting the IB ones)

haha. don t get hoodwinked by the fancy cars and hotels my friend. my friend worked like a dog. He dreaded taking business class because that means he s gotta take out his laptop and work alongside his boss on the plane. In fact he s happier if they only manage to get economy class.

The moment they touchdown in another country, they get picked up by a fancy limousine, to the workplace. Work until about 11-12pm, than go back to their 5 star hotel. Next day morning back to work at 8am. and the colleagues are smart, real smart so can t ******** with anyone there. I d think the top ones are mainly like that. I mean if you think about it if you re the client paying couple hundred grand to these guys you d want to work their asses off as well.

Money s good though. Whether you have a life or not thats another thing altogether.
