Question Dentist Salary

I am a young dentist, wanting to know how much the average dentist's salary is per month in Singapore?

Most local dentists are useless and only know how to charge high fees instead of possessing appropriate dental knowledge, you should come here and charge your 5000 inr instead of 5000 sgd. Apply to MOH its easy-peasy, remember to ask for your PR to be included in the package.

You'll need to make sure your degree is from an accredited institution first. Not all degrees are recognised by the Singapore government.

Something you should keep in mind is the different cost of living. 4k SGD may seem a lot by itself, but if you consider that rental for a small apartment to live in will easily cost half of that, $4k really doesn't go very far. Everything is a lot more expensive here.

4.5k if you have a bond with MOHH.

Else, it ranges from 8-10 for a fresh graduate in the private sector.

Pretty good money for flossing and scaling work.

Don't understand why you people keep quoting 4k which is due to the bond.

Fresh grad dentists without bonds can make aroujd 8

If you want to be specialist then must slog in public institutions which give 4-5k pay.
Then they sponsor you for masters and pay u salary while you take the masters

So giving a 4-5k pay is good to manage expectations at the start

Thank you for this - can we please understand how long master courses are typically? Will this duration be factored into the original bond duration?

For example if master is 2 years then total bond served will be 2 + the 4 (bachelors) assuming that one studied in a local university.

What is the typical career path of a specialist after finishing his bond? Do they continue to stay in the public service to gain exposure before heading to the private sector?

What are the pros and cons between public and private?

Fresh dentist

Work in hosp for two years, preferably in an area he would like to specialise
Build up good relations with bosses

Apply nus masters. The masters will take 3 years.
During this time hosp will pay you full salary + tuition fees yet you dont contribute to the hosp at all.

After 3 years, you return to hosp to serve your 3 post masters experience.
They appoint you as registrar.
Very impt u need this 3 years experience and log enough cases to register with sdc as a specialist
The 3 years Bond with hosp runs concurrenty. Essentially the bond is not material coz you need to work in hosp to get the exp anyway

2+3+3
