MNCs attitude towards yearly increments vary quite a bit. Anecdotally, one MNC I was in had zero yearly increments except for when you're promoted, while in another I was given 10% even though we were just coming out of the COVID era.

But in general I would say that from speaking to my friends, MNCs generally try their best to keep up with inflation.

MNCs dont give a fk about ur inflation. base is always 2-3%. if u get 10% a year means u were underpaid from the start.

agreed

no company will give u 10% annual raise unless its a promotion, u cannot expect 10% every year, like that everyone will easily hit 10-15k monthly just by working long term

2-3% is the standard for inflation but even then no guarantee, some mnc stingy wont even give u 1% and instead give u some nonsense 1 time cash bonus that will affect u in the long run

Agree, was in manufacturing for years and the standard increment always around 2-3% no matter how the economy was lmao. 10% means something is off.

Don't forget in most companies engineers are considered as cost centers, not profit centers.

For people who change company. How do you go about telling your next employer about serving notice?

Used to be 1 month when I started. But my current job need 3 months period.

Does the next employer really willing to wait 3 months or do you guys resign first and able to give a date on when you can start work?

As for me
Yr 1 : 3800 (manufacturing engineer)
Yr 2 : 3887
Yr 3 : 4200 ( change job : electrical engineer, construction)
Yr 4 : 5100 ( change job : semicon)

Resigning first is a little risky. For longish notice periods, the new employee can propose buying you out to shorten your notice period. But noticed period is something you need to state upfront during the inititial interview that's usually with HR.

It depends. You need to see whether are they urgently looking to fill the role or not, and even then some are willing to wait, some no. Long story short, be upfront and tell the company about your notice period so that both parties have a common understanding and can work something out if need be.
