4 years ago, when I was in foreign bank. If I see dbs or UOB ppl said they gotten 4 months bonus or 5 months bonus or 5%-10% increment (non promotion year). I will think they are ********. But since i joined this local bank, I myself experienced the same things that forummers put down and I can tell u I really believe them coz it happens to me.

JP pays 1 month bonus = 8k bonus
DBS pays 3 months bonus = 6.5 * 3 = 19.5k bonus
so the difference in bonus is 11.5k right?
now let's compare their base
DBS = 6.5k * 12 = 78k
JP = 8k * 12 = 96k
difference is 18k
DBS total comp = 97.5k
JP total comp = 104k
crazy that people think all banks pay the same, they don't. if they did then why would anyone ever join JP? you know that they have probation and will lay you off whenever they want right? It's a American bank which is at "will" employment even if it's operating outside of homeland soil ( outside US )
DBS is NOT an American company, they don't follow a "at will" employment. They don't anyhow fire you and there's plenty of rumors saying people get "BT" rating ( below target ) and still remain in the bank for years.
Try getting a "BT" equivalent in JP, you'll be gone by March.
Foreign banks pay you a lot more ( 5 - 10k more ) than locals for a obvious reason. Also I'm being lenient in my comparison, we're assuming that you can even get 3 months bonus in DBS while 1 month bonus in JP is the lowest guaranteed standard that everyone gets.

this is accurate
im in jp now as full-stack dev, getting 8.6k as 601 ( associate ) rank
previously i was at dbs, associate 6.5k, dbs associate is equivalent to jp morgan associate
citibank senior associate is equivalent to dbs associate / jp associate
reason being is citibank u start as associate then bump to senior associate in 1 year, this is true for their ICG programs and other tech programs
dbs on the other hand, SEED, etc, u can only bump to associate after 2 years.
very easy to fact check all this, feel free to confirm yourself. if u like local banks then ok stay in ur local bank, no one saying local banks are bad, i'll stay in JP and collect my 8.6k base + 2 month bonus along with opportunities to work overseas while you can stay in ur local bank, deal with all the customer complaints about ur app always dying, servers always going down and many more problems.
god bless.

what a blatant lie
DBS AVP isn't 9k, and 4 months? so what, DBS AVP in tech get 36k bonus?
u 100% sure about that? u do know that bonuses in DBS are monthly but they are skewed based on base pay right? so what, SVPs earning 25k also get 4 month is it? wow gg 100k bonus guys!
#1 most paid bonus in the world!

DBS hater ^
it's true, my friend has a SVP uncle in DBS Back office, earns 23k a month, bonus was 5 months. Just because you suck doesn't mean everyone else suck, there are plenty of high earners in DBS as it's the #1 best bank and the ONLY bank in South East Asia that's dominating the market right now.
do your research. There's a reason why every Singaporean knows what DBS is but not UOB or OCBC.
