Er... IMDA is not a place for retirement unless you are so low on the radar doing pure ops work AND all of your bosses have no intention to impress their bosses. You have to be very careful with which department you are joining and the dynamics between your team with senior management. If you want a retirement job, make sure your job role allows you to lie low. Otherwise, kiss goodbye to your sanity and sleep.

Here's another perspective. I used to work in the IT department of a MNC where everyone in the department did comp science and knows tech stuff inside out. You can't rely on BS to climb the corporate ladder. But in IMDA, you can simply throw out some IT jargon and the bosses are easily influenced/impressed by you.

Then you are lucky for joining the right department for your needs. C grade is not the default, but the average. If you are below average for a certain number of times, you get blacklisted by HR and will never get promoted. Worse still, you get counseled out by management. It has happened before. One example is the SS dir mentioned earlier in this thread.

You are lucky to be in the right department for your needs. C grade is not default, but the average. People do get below the C grade and if you do for a number of times, you get blacklisted by HR. It may not mean much if you are just there to cruise your way to retirement, but there are instances where people get counselled out for not performing - it has happened quite a few times before, including a certain SS dir mentioned earlier in this thread.

SS still remained a director drawing superscale salary, hasn't been counselled to leave yet.
