How long does it take for HR to calculate your salary + package and get back to you?

How does HR calculate the salary and whole package for you? Like based on your uni degree/grades? And also anyone know what’s the timeline for them to get back to you with the salary?

New hiring process
I had tried for MINDEF 6 years ago. At that time around 2017/2018, you had to indicate 3 positions. HR will shortlist you and send you for psychometric test and that is where you will know which position you have been shortlisted for.
I didn’t make it then. Went to another gov agency. 6 years of experience.
Recently, I applied for 2 posts and they took very long to come back to me. But when they did, I was surprised to find out that I was contacted by 2 separate units.
The SM/Branch Head of the 2 divisions called me via phone for a phone interview. They laid down job expectations and we chatted. I was very surprised to know that there is no more psychometric test?
I passed the phone screening for the 2 positions and I was further shortlisted to go for unit interviews on 2 different dates.
Hence, I want to know:
1. For those who have underwent the new hiring process (suppose within the past 6 months), what was your hiring timeline and experience?
2. How do you do well for the unit interview? I think its a face to face interview and they will bring you around like the unit preview segment under the old hiring process? What questions do you ask the staff during unit preview? How do you break the ice?
Thanks in advance!!

Yes. Unit is the “dept” you work in.

Guys normally they will want to hire you once you at the clearance stage right? Or they can suddenly say don’t want offer you anymore even when you cleared the clearance?

Normally, they will send shortlisted guys for security clearance.
Then, they will offer to each one and wait. One at a time.
If no 1 rejects, they offer to no 2.
