since i do not have honours, mayb it is better for me not to stay on in civil svc...prolly, i should go pte? but i realised that pte might provide a higher mthly gross, however their annual pay package will definitely lose out to public...they dun provide tt much of bonus as compared to min/stats board...

prolly stats board is the next place to go?

If money is what you're after, you're clearly in the wrong sector. Even if you don't make it to DD, collecting $11k as an AD (mx10) by retirement isn't too bad if you're investment savvy.

Sometimes I thankful that I'm in a stat board/ministry where promotions to AD level are pretty standard. A teacher who've slogged away for years and decades will always be stuck at 7+k simply because he/she wasn't promoted to SH or HOD.

Actually, I'm quite comfy with the amt I'm earnin... And am ok with havin 10k and over by retirement. I would say my current HOD made me real tired... Not providing me the recognition and being so unconditionally bias. But I reckon favouritism happens every where... But I hope I can compete on fair grd in the first place...

Thanks so much for the advice... It definitely clears those cloud on my head...

I thought ADs are mostly in MX 11?

Nothing is ever really fair, especially when there's human factor involved. That's why it's better for those who wish to join the teaching profession to have the real passion for teaching, and not be too concerned over career progression nor monetary rewards. Its true while their starting salaries are one of the highest for non-uniform in the public sector, their progression usually stagnates pretty fast after 5 - 7 years.

But it is true that in general, even if you're not a good performer in the public sector, you'll still be able to rise to DD level if you're a graduate. It's just how long it'll take for you to reach that position only. Mind, there are loads of scholars who reached D level within 10 years, and yet farmers may not even reach AD level after 10 years. That's just how "fair" the system is.

Some min/agency labeled their AD as mx11... Those with AD title at scale 10 most

I can identify with how much you just want to be assessed fairly... but the sooner we accept that there will be no perfect fairness, the more contented and self assured we will be. Sometimes I tell myself that I'm glad I'm taking a longer route because I'm learning new things and building up my experiences. It's better to get up slowly but pple say this person has substance than to get up there and pple know this is an incompetent boss.

In civil service, tere are alot of specialists who are incompetent or horrible managers risin to the top very fast... They are neither apathetic towards their staff...and doesn't cr much abt their staff progression... It is true that it is impt to build up substance rather than b termed incompetent...but sometimes the route to wat u deserved might 10x way longer than wat u tot...

Hi forumers,

I have just finished my Master in International Business From Monash University (Australian Uni), I also have a Bachelors of Business Admin fro University of Canberra (Aust Uni as well)
I am considering joining the Ministry of Trade and Industry as a Senior/Assistant Director (Strategist, Futures Group) in the Futures & Strategy Div. Would any kind soul roughly tell me what pay scale to expect. I previously have 7 yrs experience in FMCG as a business development executive and this would be a mid career change. I would welcome any thoughts. Thanks!

In case it matters, my GPA for my masters degree is 3.63/4 so results wise should be ok right?
