in the current climate (political pay + high profile cpib case) it is probably not wise to do it. what is strange is the whole timing of this revision

Agreed regarding the timing of the revision. Many civil servants are caught by surprise, albeit a pleasant one. It may arise from the recent ministerial pay review, which also review the entire civil service pay structure, including non-political and working level appointments.

What timing? Aren't we all fed with the super logical super pragmatic argument that high pay will deter corruption? So that's why they need to raise the pay!

By their other logic, I think they will need to raise GST very soon to further help the poor.

The normal uniformed pay scale already takes into acct "danger" and other "hardship" so this point is moot. Not everyone is interested in a field role. If you think we are better off in our office roles you can always join us. Unless of course you don't qualify. In which case you have my condolences.

Mummy says : Ah lian, why you whole life "kao peh kao bu" the world is not fair to you?? You've got no one to blame but yourself, everyday play marble at playground... You shld have studied harder like zeh zeh so you can wear nice nice everyday and work in aircon office and do meaningful work that will guarantee pay increment...

No need to hope for anything. Instead of hoping for someone to review the salary, ask yourself whether you are contented. If you feel that you are being short-changed, do something about it. Our future lies in our own hands.
Btw, I am a farmer and i find that farming is a meaningful job.
