10 yrs exp in starboard/CS should be getting 6-7k already min.
There will depend on which GLC you are in and your specialisation too. There are GLCs where they pay staff a premium simply because of the limited talent pool.

In public sector, it is not gauranteed to have a promotion or a pay raise every year. There are salary caps at each grade and if you are simply an average performer, it is easy to be bypassed by others during ranking exercises.

Can we consider general. In fact, CS and PS have better salary than the majority working at GLC and private. If you ask around, starting pay for CS and PS easily average 3.5k and above while private and GLC getting around 3k. After five years, CS and PS getting minimum 5k and some even 6k-7k while others around 4K and lucky to get 5k with few promotions.

Totally agree,

Let compare both farmer 1st class hon with NS having same performance, but 1 in ST engineering(eg ST Kinetic...etc) dealing with military work (GLC), another with DSTA dealing with the same military work..

After 5 years....you should know which one is getting higher salary.

the last heard DSTA 1st class/ns engineering getting 5-5.3k starting.....
STK....maybe 3.8k..

5 years down the road, even with average performance, the dsta guy should be getting 6.5-7k min, whereas the ST guy, maybe 5k max...

see the difference

ST kinetics 1st class engineer getting 6K after 5 years as a C performer is very common btw.

Then join the public service, and not the GLCs! Why complain? Likewise for those in public service who are complaining about the high salaries of those working in the private sector, go and join the private sector!

Let's all face it - its either you can't make it (criteria for the job), or you simply flunk the interview. There's no meaning in debating if GLC or PS pays more; there will always be exceptions. In fact, GIC pays more than PS.

You did not follow the last topic about salary adjustment for CS. Salary adjustment is required to allow CS to catch with the market rate but is ridiculous when CS is already paid higher than the market rate.

Well, the difference is in the talent pool again. DSTA hires all Singaporeans only. ST Engineering can hire non-Singaporeans on top of Singaporeans. So of course DSTA has to pay more because they need to hire from a smaller pool of people. If I am ST, why should I pay more when I can hire cheaper Indian and China IT people? ST is profit-driven, DSTA is taking from taxpayers. Y'all need to think more macro and more like like employers...
