Hi!
Since its the norm for new joiners to be put on contract for their initial years, do we still get graded and assessed for promotion during this period on contract?
Is probation period as long as the contract period?
Is there a confirmation bonus after the probation period?

My current workplace i feel there's not much progression. Supervisor alr reached CEP, so i feel he's not pushing for growth in the department.
I applied for another job within same parent ministry, under specialist scheme. They're only willing to up my salary by 3%, so 4.2k.
Is this a fair deal? I thought specialist scheme will have a decent pay increment but why is my pay increment so low?
i'm tempted to take up that offer just to increase my progression but wah the pay...

i think u are misled.
if you have time to go through some of the thread, you will realise specialist scheme in GovTech, MFA etc does not really offers higher pay package, it only have a different pay scheme (i.e dont follow the typically bonus structure) such as merging aws or a portion of bonus onto your base.
the specialist scheme you applied for may be one that offers the same pay scheme hence, you dont see much different.
lastly, transferring from within public sector dont give you much increment.. you will definitely be map to the same level pay grade at the other side with a slight increment

Don’t mislead others. I can’t speak for Govtech but for the The starting pay is about 5k and both the increments and bonuses are higher than virtually anywhere else in the the civil services. Just to share, the annual package for a first year FSO is typically about 80k, with extra bonuses in subsequent years (retention bonuses for milestone years, other bonuses which I’d prefer not to list, not to mention other allowances).
Source: That’s what I drew.

this is for good performer. average performer is getting 65k max.
dont mislead everyone here by comparing a "best case" against a "average".
speaking of good performer. someone in GT IT (17-18mths package) or LTA engineer (18-19mths package) with good perfomer can easily draw 75k to 80k first yr.

Do you even know what you’re talking about? Are you even in the public service lol. In the first year everyone gets a C grade by default - hence the PB is fixed.
Also, I have never heard of a public servant receiving 18/19mths based on performance. In fact, non-specialist schemes should be getting only about 14 months nowadays.

YOU are the one misleading everyone. As a FSO, I can confirm that 75k-80k first year is for AVERAGE performer. And we don't do nonsense like front-loading our base salary.
