May I know whats the difference in grading scheme that some people refer to as "MX*" whilst some refer to it as "grade *"?

Hi guys~ would need to seek your advice.
F, 26, Second upper, local uni.
Joined in Oct 17 - 3.5
Became MX12 in Oct 18, emplaced in Oct 19. Grade this year was C+. MI was 3% and salary became 4.1.
My current workplace i feel there's not much progression. Supervisor alr reached CEP, so i feel he's not pushing for growth in the department.
I applied for another job within same parent ministry, under specialist scheme. They're only willing to up my salary by 3%, so 4.2k.
Is this a fair deal? I thought specialist scheme will have a decent pay increment but why is my pay increment so low?
i'm tempted to take up that offer just to increase my progression but wah the pay...

Firstly you were a C grader so what did you really expect? Secondly, lateral transfers in public service don't give you 20% increment unlike in private sector. You should be glad you still have a job in this pandemic while the people in the private sector are being retrenched, and here you are complaining about pay even though you're not a good performer.

hey hey dont get your knickers in a twist on a public holiday. Firstly, I signed up for civil service job knowing that it cushions me. It doesn't pay as well as private sector, but i know that i would have an iron rice bowl during economic downturn, like now. Those ppl who signed up for the private sector, they should have been aware of the stability of their jobs. Also, private sector ppl can be paid much higher. I see this as a form of compromise. I take a lower pay and i get a stable job. Is there anything wrong?
Secondly, this is a SPECIALIST scheme which would limit my career options in future - I was just wondering if the compensation is decent. Thirdly, average grade for civil servants is C leh I got C+. Chill out.

Yep, I think C+ is pretty good... usually given out to award those deserving when there's a strong competition for the B grade (eg. need to give B to others who are due for promotion, or others more deserving etc). I would advise you to think whether will you are ok with staying forever in that specialist role? If yes, go for it... don't worry over the slight increment, CEP is more important. If the specialist scheme offers you a high CEP, better progression, go for it!

Is this considered a transfer? Usually a transfer within public service does not have an increment. If it's not a transfer, means you will lost the last 3 years' of service and restart at the minister. Not that important unless you are aiming for the 10-year service thingy. I would take it.
