Racism Is A Thing. Good that you never experienced it, some of us have.

Where did you study?
still higher than big 4 pay after tax + better prestige LOL

The benefit is if you lateral to SG

Also, for disputes, arbitration 4 lyf (not necessarily a bad thing)

Only if you're into transactional work.

But if you join a firm like Wilmer Hale, it is 190k pounds base for first year associate(their website clearly shows the scale) and that is excluding bonuses and allowances

Hi everyone, do you have any tips for a junior litigation lawyer seeking to move to a corporate role (not inhouse)? Thanks in advance.

We may have met irl briefly.

No ofc. But what I'm saying is I can't really imagine the tax and expenses, at an NQ level, for MC firms. This was a consensus shared by my batchmates who came back.

I have no experience, but this is how I'd do it:

- expect PQE cut

- play up the fact that you have litigated on contracts / know the back end

I'm talking CC and others. Clearly if you're Gary Born's associate you're one of the brightest legal minds available (pls no NUS supporters again, we're talking salary).

CC NQ is just shy of 100K? I believe. During my time at least. Davis Polk paid 100K.

Yes of course you’ll earn much more. When you hit NQ your salary can double (or triple for some firms) which is saying a lot since you can already live quite comfortably off a trainee salary. At that point you’ll be saving up a considerable amount every month.

The salty guy above mentioned taxes and racism. Tax wise, you know what you’re getting yourself into when you apply here. Not to mention, with CPF deductions, its really not that much more of a tax compared to SG (I know CPF is still technically ours, but only in the very long term).

Racism I think is quite a subjective topic. I’ve not felt disadvantaged because of race, except maybe when trying to pull an angmoh girl (but even then better odds to do that here than in SG). Its true that there was an SG student who got beat up over coronavirus in London a few months back after all, but London is even more cosmopolitan than SG and by and large you’ll probably be mixing with other young professionals where race doesn’t factor in at all.

Thanks. Yeah a lot of salty people here lol. I'm from Bristol, looks like the job prospects in UK might be better than SG. What type of firm are you in and how often do u go back to SG to see friends/family?
