LOL same experience except it was the trainees/NQs who were the ones wasting time, going down to buy kopi (beo angmohs at the bar downstairs), drag dinner till damn late..... just so they can send out "3am" emails and moan about how overworked they were.

not just responding to this specifically. find it a bit troubling that the entire basis of remuneration this whole time is simply "i am lawyer, therefore pay me >4k"
what value >4k is inherent in merely calling urself a lawyer? what does the lawyer contribute to the firm that is worth them paying >4k?

Sure. A starting job in asset management or investment banking at a bulge bracket bank will pay you around S$10k or more.
