Any advice?

Have you reached a stage where you have cried in front of the partner? If not it’s okay to stay.

He's probably talking about salaries in the big firms. But what he doesn't know is that majority of law students don't get to enter these firms. It's getting worse and worse nowadays with the lower trainee retention rate.

What is the salary and retention rate nowadays?
Who else finds $2000 a month for training contract period too low?
I should have stayed in UK and earn $100k a year

There are many postgraduate degrees in Oxbridge. For instance, with a 2:1 in LLB, you can easily qualify to do the MSc in Taxation in Oxford, or the Masters in Law/Finance (MLF) in Oxford, or the MPhil in Law in Oxford. In Cambridge, with a 2:1 in LLB, you can also do the Masters in Corporate Law (MCL) or the MPhil in Law or the MPhil in Criminology.
Therefore when people say that Oxbridge LLM/BCL is prestigious and reserve for cream of the crop, they are referring specifically to the LLM (Masters of Law) in Cambridge and the postgraduate BCL (Bachelor of Civil law) in Oxford. Do not be mistaken. Those require first class, top 5% and multiple prizes on the LLB to even have a fighting chance of admissions. Not to mention once you qualify, you are competing with the top of every law school cohort in the WORLD.
