So much this. Pay for this industry is not that good in Singapore. However, the work is almost always very interesting and if you are looking for work that is stimulating and challenging, this would be the industry for you

To add to my point (I'm the same guy who wrote what u quoted), this field also feels quite saturated with many "talents" coming from overseas. Just join one or two of those data science events and you will know what I mean. Not too many locals. In fact I'm the only local in my team of 18-20 people. This is the odds you are fighting with. Unless you are willing to work in a multinational environment, don't come. I'm being very nice when I said multinational... it's just those few countries u see in university again lol

I wonder how portable are these skills gained. could anyone in the industry shed some light?

I'm a fresh grad with master qualification in quantitative field.. was recently offered a role of data analyst at 3300 with aws. Am I underpaid? I seriously did not expect it to be so low...

Ignoring the obviously trolling numbers above, this is on the mid lower end. Industry, major and university? Your pay heavily depends on your industry and company to be honest. E.g. Banks should be able to pay more

There are places who r offering such salary. Jus check how much they revised the salary for govtech tap program to get a sense of how much the big employers are willing to pay to attract talents.
