Well... GA/MA program usually have thousands of applicants, and in the end only 20 to 25 are chosen each batch (DBS, JP Morgan Chase etc). To have at least a 2nd upper honors is a must. The rest is up to how you can speak and answer questions through the case studies and panels.

Every techie is fundamentally strong, usually. But most of them are introverts that cannot manage their weakness, that is to be outspoken. These programs look for technical people that are also outspoken and has leadership potential. CCA is not required but may help applicants market themselves.

Good Luck.

GA/MA programs for the mega MNCs like oil supermajors, investment banks, hi-tech companies etc are notoriously difficult to get in. An average local uni degree without the right internship / connection chance of getting is 0%.

After the big ones select their cream of the crop, the leftovers fight for GA/MA for local banks, local blue chip companies and the smaller size MNCs. This kind usually local uni with a 2nd upper honors, good CCA and internship have a decent chance of getting in.

Then the remaining ones need to fight for normal fresh grad entry level exec positions. This is the competitive reality in SG for the uni grads. If no good honors, no CCA, no internship, then honestly just forget about joining any GA/MA program and just apply for nomral exec jobs.

Actually, MA programmes of large local blue chips and mega MNCs pay the same amount and their candidates enjoy a high level of investment in terms of training and better career progression. GA salaries vary but are generally lower than that of MAs, of course excluding those front office positions. Can't say the same for smaller local companies/MNCs though.

I don't think so. My bro got into the Chevron GA program last year as a process engineer and was offered annual salary of $65k + bonus $19k. I doubt many normal fresh grads make $84k in their first year.

For DBS, u don't need 2nd upper n above to secure the interview. I have a 3rd class and was also offered the interview. And there was an influx last year, HR mass hiring GAs. So thread owner, it depends much on your luck too!

Everyone knows that if they are in FI long enough, but you will be surprised at the number of ignorant and naieve fresh grads out there who really sincerely believe that by joining a GA they are part of the elite high potentials.

The banks give them fancy titles, promise them the will become a "Vice President" in a few years and some really believe they are big shots. If you work out the total package including bonuses, aws, allowance etc, most civil servants actually have a much better deal & shorter working hours compared to a BO/MO VP in a bank.
